Save the date for the second event in our Unit Trifecta series, Mixed Pairs! Find a partner of the opposite gender for this fun event. Time and location will be announced soon.
We hope you'll join us for a casual summer weekend of fun duplicate bridge, featuring a "daylight" schedule on Saturday and Sunday and IMP pairs on Friday evening. We are returning to Forest Ridge School in Bellevue. Please remember that smoking on Forest Ridge campus is NOT allowed, and this prohibition applies to parking lots as well as all outdoor areas on the campus.
Start Time: 1pm
For this annual event, some of the best players in the unit will serve as team captains. They pick their team from all of the players who sign up. You play one round with each person on your team, so you get a chance to meet new players in the area and play with a highly rated player to improve your game. Advance registration is required for the Captain's Game. To sign up, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or sign up at Eastside Bridge Center by June 15th.
Start Time: 1pm
Returning this year is the unit's Trifecta series, featuring unique game formats played at local clubs. We are kicking the series off with Barometer Pairs. Since this event requires a set of boards to be made for every table, it's very important we know who is coming so that we can make enough boards. To sign up, please email email@example.com or sign up at Eastside Bridge Center by June 2nd.
In a Barometer pairs game, all scores for a given set of boards are available as soon as the round is over. Each pair/partnership knows where they stand at all times, allowing for strategic play adjustments or simply understanding your performance throughout the event. Any given pair's results may rise or fall as the game goes on, hence the name "barometer."
We hope you'll come out to enjoy this uniquely formatted event with us!
We hope you'll join us for a holiday weekend of fun duplicate bridge. This sectional focuses on Knockout team events, but many event types are offered. Our location is wonderful, with nearby hotels & lodges, as well as lots of great restaurants to enjoy.
Flyer and schedule details are posted here: http://tournaments.acbl.org/schedule.php?tourid=33493
Join us for a fun and friendly sectional just for new, intermediate, and novice players. We are pleased to host our spring non-life master (0-500 masterpoint limit) sectional at the Seattle Bridge Center.
Our first sectional of the year will kick off on Friday with pairs and a special BAM Teams event in the evening. (Learn more about BAM Teams.) Bothell's Union Hall was top-rated as a location for tournaments in our unit, with free on-site parking, easy access from I-405, and nearby restaurants.
Join us as the Alki Bridge Club hosts this third and final event in our unit trifecta series, Mixed Pairs. Event starts at 6pm.
Did you know that most Bridge partnerships are same gender (two men or two women)? In Mixed Pairs, this trend gets mixed up since each partnership must include one man and one woman. Whether it's your regular partnership or you're working with a new partner, come enjoy this social conclusion to the trifecta series.
Newer players, this tournament is just for you! (Experienced players, tell your newer friends!) All events are limited to non-life masters with less than 500 masterpoints, and there are special 99er and 199er events as well. Events use a "daylight" schedule (10:30am and 4pm starts on Saturday, 10:30am and 3:30pm starts on Sunday). Play will be friendly to those still getting the hang of bidding boxes, duplicate scoring, and other tournament procedures.
Our Fall sectional takes us south of Seattle. Kent Commons offers free on-site parking and lots of nearby restaurants. In addition to stratified events, each session includes a 0-200 limited session, with 0-750 pairs offered during Saturday's sessions. On Saturday, this sectional features a two session open pairs, designed to mimic the popular NABC event. Qualifying pairs from the afternoon move on to the evening finals, and a consolation/side pairs is offered for anyone playing in the evening.
Start time: 6:30pm
Join us for the second game in our unit trifecta series, Fast Pairs! Seattle Bridge Center will host this quick and fun event that will test your efficient play skills.
In a Fast Pairs game the speed of play is increased to allow more boards to be played and/or getting done earlier. Instead of the usual seven to eight minutes provided to play each board, each board (hand) must be completed in five minutes. (On Bridge Base Online, this is often called "speedball".)
Game starts at 1pm. Pre-register by 6/1.
The Seattle Unit is bringing back this very popular Swiss Team event. Some of the best players in the unit will serve as team captains. They pick their team from all of the players who sign up. You play one round with each person on your team. Advance registration is required for the Captain's Game. Please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org by Wednesday, June 1st to register.
A holiday weekend means more time for Bridge! This sectional includes a mix of pairs and team "knockout" events running Friday through Monday.
If you've never tried a knockout before, they can be a fun and different event from the typical pairs/club game. Knockout teams are a team of 4-6 players. Teams are "bracketed" into divisions by masterpoint totals. Each bracket comprises a separate event with its own masterpoint awards, so you play against teams of roughly the same skill (as judged by masterpoint totals) as your team. Instead of playing lots of different pairs, you play one pair from one other team for an entire session. This lets you adjust to a given pair's style of play as well as enjoy each other's company more than the typical table-switching in pair movements. After you've played a session against a team and compared scores, you either win or you're "knocked out" and free to play in other events. In this way, a knockout is often considered a "win-win" event. Either you win the match (and thus some amount of masterpoints) and advance or you are free to play a different event!
A unit meeting will be held before the Saturday evening session (~6:45pm).

Each pair/partnership knows where they stand at all times, allowing for strategic play adjustments or simply understanding your performance throughout the event.
