Barometer Pairs Event - Register by 4/27

The unit will be hosting a Barometer Pairs event on Sunday, May 1st at 6:00pm at Eastside Bridge Center.  In a Barometer game, all pairs play the same boards at the same time throughout the event, with scores posted as soon as the round is over so each pair knows where they stand at all times. A pair's fortunes may rise and fall as the game goes on - hence the name Barometer.

Advance registration is required for the Barometer Pairs so that we know how many boards to prepare. Please e-mail keng@forestridge.org by Wednesday, April 27th to pre-register.  See you there!

Unit 446 Awards Jabon Trophy, Microsoft Trophy

There are two trophies to be claimed annually by the person winning the most masterpoints in Unit 446's four sectional tournaments (STAC points and Round Robin points are excluded from the calculation).  The Microsoft Award (formerly the Weisfield Trophy through 1999) is awarded to the player winning the most points from all events in the Sweetheart, Knockout, Suntan, and Autumn sectionals.  The recipient gets to display the permanent award for a year, and is awarded a gift to be kept.  The Jabon Trophy is awarded to the person starting the year with fewer than 20 masterpoints who accumulates the most points at the sectionals.

We are pleased to announce that the latest unit member to be awarded the Microsoft Trophy is Dave Setterholm! Congratulations!  Unit president Tim White presented the trophy to Dave at the Sweetheart Sectional:

We are further pleased to announce that the latest unit member to be awarded the Jabon Trophy is Dick Kennedy! Congratulations!  Unit president Tim White presented the trophy to Dick at the Sweetheart Sectional:

ACBL Unit Award Winners - 2015 Ace of Clubs, Mini-McKenney

Each year, ACBL units present the Ace of Clubs and Mini-McKenney awards to unit members. The Ace of Clubs certificates are awarded to players in each unit (one per ranking level) who earn the most black (club-level) masterpoints during the previous year.  The Mini-McKenney medals are awarded to players in each unit (one per ranking level) who earn the most masterpoints (any color, including online/colorless) during the previous year.  Within Unit 446, it's traditional to announce the winners at the Sweetheart Sectional.

This year, the announcement was made on February 27th, and unit president Tim White was on hand to congratulate the winners on their achievement.

Register for Yarington Round Robin by March 1st

If you love playing bridge but sometimes wish it was a little more social, the Yarington Round Robin is the event for you! If you have never played before, the Round Robin is a team event where you get to play competitive bridge in a friendly, social setting. Each team will be placed in a bracket (determined by # of masterpoints) and will play a handful of matches against other teams. The beauty of the Round Robin is that you get to set your own schedule! Team captains work together to find a mutual date and home location that works for both teams. It is that simple! If you have any questions about the event or if you want to register a team, send an e-mail to Kim Eng at keng@forestridge.org with your team roster (4-6 players). The deadline for registration is March 1st. The cost is $60 per team.

Visit the Yarington Round Robin page on this site for more details.
