Seattle Bridge Unit invited our 0-5 newcomers to meet the BOARD MEMBERS and play a free game of bridge at our October 4th monthly unit game. Six Tables of 199’ers and 12 tables of open bridge totaling 18 tables made it the largest turnout for a monthly unit game this year. An hour allowed time to pair up newcomers and get convention card help and meet the board of the Seattle Bridge Unit. Informational pamphlets and flyers were provided. Tasty fare included: Cold salmon, ham, 125 deviled eggs (ALL DEMOLISHED), sausage rolls, hot meat balls, fruit platters and two beautiful cakes. (Barb Nist, Beth McCaslin, Sharon Erwin and Julie Godefroy) ALL 0-5 players played free at this event. Extra partnership and convention – card help were provided by John and Beth McCaslin, Steve Kasner, Belusu Rao, and Curt Peterson, President Pat Dunn, welcomed our newest players with a short speech. Special thanks to Dave Hildebrand for take pictures; Marsha Rayton did a wonderful job with Jeremy Gully’s help assisting our newcomers, This event should grow bigger every year as it gets more famous. JULIE GODEFROY The IN Program is a ten-point program designed to welcome new players into the tournament environment and to make them comfortable and eager for more.
